I was excited for our recipe this week. Naan is a food that is on my 'baking bucket' list, I do love Indian food and good curry. Naan is the perfect accompaniment to such dishes. So I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to make. I started the dough by hand but finished it in the mixer, my back just can't knead. I added the lesser amount of flour as I was aiming for a softer dough.
I can tell this is a recipe that needs practice! Why is round so difficult?? But my last naan looked much better than the first one. I served the warm, chewy naan with Skillet Chicken Tikki Masala, a favorite 30 minute meal.
What a wonderful meal!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks sooo delicious!
I loved the oasis naans and will make them again.
Like you, my last naan was much better looking than the first.
ReplyDeleteOur daughter Amy has recently been experimenting with Naan. I will send her over to your post to see your recipe. We love Indian food too, and feel fortunate that there are so many wonderful restaurants to try here in the Phoenix area.
ReplyDeleteI can't do round either. And since discovering how wonderfully my Kitchen Aid knead dough for me, I haven't done any by hand for a long time.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to try your chicken dish.
I also love indian food, yum yum! Your naan looks great!
ReplyDeleteBoth your naan and your chicken tikki masala look wonderful - what a nice dinner you prepared!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
I used the mixer for kneading as well. I just don't think the effort will make any difference in the long run. I'll have to try your tikka recipe. It looks delish!
ReplyDeleteLOL there is a really good technique that pizza "tossers" use that entails just your thumbs and the backs of your hands that helps get that "circle" shape! :) Good luck with your future baking bucket list! I have something similar, so to get those checks on the list, I'm baking my way through Peter Reinhart's "Artisan Breads Everyday" which is not only the most helpful bread baking book I have ever come across but it pretty much takes care of lots of the things I have wanted to bake, bread wise in my life! :) Your dinner looks fab also!
ReplyDeleteYour naan turned out great Cindy. I agree that getting a perfect round is difficult.
ReplyDeleteGreat meal…perfect looking naan! We really loved the flavors of these!
ReplyDeleteCindy...I love Naan, but have yet to make it. It seems easy enough and yours turned out beautifully! I might just have to give this a try! : )
ReplyDeleteRound is highly over rated. Rustic is where its at :-)
ReplyDeleteThey look lovely.
Your naan looks delicious! And I love all your photos!!
ReplyDeleteYum. It's always nice to cross something off your baking bucket list. I love naan and yours looks great. I'm on the fence about all other Indian food, but I'll take naan any day!
